Friends of NRA Facebook Contest Winner Central Adirondack holds banquet The Friends of NRA Facebook contest winner, Central Adirondack Friends of NRA, held its banquet on September 18 at the Morehouse Recreation Center in Hoffmeister, NY. After winning the national Facebook contest, the committee turned up its enthusiasm full blast. Their banquet sold out well in advance and they were looking forward to auctioning off the Special Edition Dick Kirby Turkey Call they won through the contest. The night of the banquet, the turkey call was put on the live auction and the high bidder Fran Gramlich, former chairman of the committee, won the call for $140. However, the presentation of the turkey call was one of the more memorable moments of the evening. The auctioneer’s helper asked a local turkey hunter to try the call out for the crowd and when the hunter got up and called, he heard the “plant” behind him answer with a loud gobble. The room broke out in laughter! About 150 people attended the banquet and with the help of dedicated volunteers they raised over $11,000. The future of the shooting sports in New York and around the nation is brighter because of hard-working volunteers like the ones on the Central Adirondack Friends of NRA committee! | |||
